Community 4ward: Equality Florida Gala

ef_logo_1.png

Equality Florida (EF) has always existed in a hostile political climate. They know how to carve out victories despite strong opposition. In addition to their work in Tallahassee, they work with local partners, providing resources and helping to build coalitions that have passed pro-equality laws across the state. Equality Florida are not a direct-service organization, but rather an advocacy arm for the LGBTQ community of this state. They provide leadership trainings, volunteer opportunities, and sponsorship opportunities to engage and grow the LGBTQ and straight-ally community involved in this fight.

The Commission on Local Debates (CLD) was established as a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization to set a higher standard for debates in local races. Their primary purpose is to sponsor and produce debates that meet voter education and accessibility criteria to ensure that every citizen has the opportunity to see and hear those running to represent them.

Debates are a meaningful platform for candidates to distinguish themselves from their opponents by demonstrating their aptitude for office and political ideology. The Commission on Local Debates thus aims to strengthen this voter communication channel to create a better informed local electorate.
