The holiday season is a time of reflection for the year past and of charitable giving to family, friends and neighbors. This holiday season can be the perfect time to engage with your community and give back to those less fortunate. Here are some countywide organizations that are helping communities give to families in need and connect with a greater purpose in life.

The Harbor House of Central Florida, helps survivors of domestic abuse find support, protection and education to end the cycle. Seeking to empower survivors during the holiday season, the Harbor House has several ways to help:

  • Adopt a family for the holidays

  • Fill the holiday gift shop for Mom (children who stay at the Harbor House shelter will have the opportunity to select a gift for his or her mother)

  • Give a Holiday meal basket (fill a laundry basket with nonperishable items for a wonderful holiday meal)

  • Host a baby needs drive

  • Or, Donate online to help the Harbor House continue their good work.

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health | Florida works to help people with cognitive, behavioral and emotional differences succeed in life. This holiday season Devereux is looking for:

  • Families interested in becoming safe, nurturing foster parents

  • Groups interested in hosting a Holiday Toy Drive

  • Individuals who will purchase items on a child’s wish list

  • Or, Donate online to help Devereux continue their vital work.
